چکیده
The secondary treated effluents of pulp and paper mills contain high chemical oxygen demand (COD) that is associated with organic matter. Therefore, this study explores the adsorption substances contributing to COD using CoFe2O4 quartz sand-coated in batch fixed-bed column experiments. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller analysis, photoelectron spectroscopy were used characterize adsorbents. sand-loaded exhibited a larger pore volume average size. Batch experiments revealed on closely fit pseudo-second-order model. To explore effects bed depth, feed flow rate, initial solution pH breakthrough characteristics CoFe2O4-coated sand, conducted, curves drawn from ratio influent concentration effluent concentration. time decreased an increase rate but increased depth. According sand showed excellent stability due negligible leaching metallic elements. These findings have important implications for advanced treatment industrial wastewater.
